I just got a call from a Texas prison guard who wanted to tell me she’s worried - about how hot it it for the prisoners. “It’s inhumane,” she said. Bc of understaffing they’re not getting out for showers or fresh air regularly, she said.

I've been to one or two like that before on the ambulance. some of those prison farms are open air, not air conditioned, and loaded with bugs. mosquitos, june bugs, the air is thick with them at certain times of the year. It's not supposed to be legal but there it is.

Not unusual enough. I got a similar call a year ago from a client housed with 40 other men in a barracks in a California prison – during COVID of course.
