Corporate profit maximization having replaced democracy as our governing principle, we are sacrificing our freedom, the health of our planet and quite possibly the survival of our species.

I worked for a regulated public utility. Their whole culture changed like night and day once they became deregulated. It is not the employer who pays the wages. Employers only handle the money. It is the customer who pays the wages. Henry Ford

But you always fall short of denouncing capitalism so you’ll never be notable. Your class will always be protected for that very reason. Someone who sees it as well as you can’t even bring yourself to it

This is THE Gospel of the #USWEALTHCARE SYSTEM! HOW dare you suggest that anything other than the exponential wealth expansion of oligarch would be acceptable? Ordinary people are pawns permitted to exist only because they add to the wealth of the 1%.

It started in the 1950s. Accelerated in the 1980s. Has become America's dominate economic policy in the 2020s - protect corporate profits at all costs.

The problem is it's not just "profit maximization" as a general principle for all citizens. The policy is profit maximization for those with the wealth to lobby our legislators....often taking profits for those unable to afford to lobby/influence our legislators.

No, it's not replaced democracy, but the GOP definition of democracy and climate change, health care and our personal freedoms. If the corporations and GOP leadership were held accountable for their civic failures the world would be very different. But right now democracy rules.
