WW II was scaling up existing technologies using readily available resources. Don't have the materials (lithium and rare earth minerals) to scale up that much for green energy.

That’s what we could do today. We could transition our economy specifically & including the fossil fuel industry into a warp speed effort to establish a green energy grid. What we did in World War II we can do today once people realize climate change is the same level threat. 2/2

They didn’t have the resources at all! Fascinating stuff about that in the book “No Ordinary Time” about FDR & Eleanor. We particularly didn’t have enough rubber or aluminum and the whole country sent in things like hoses, tires, pots and pans. Really amazing what happened there.
