In 1942 all of America’s manufacturing concerns were converted to the war effort. A merry-go-round gun factory made gun mounts. A corset factory made grenade belts. A stove manufacturer produced lifeboats. A toy company made compasses. 1/2

That’s what we could do today. We could transition our economy specifically & including the fossil fuel industry into a warp speed effort to establish a green energy grid. What we did in World War II we can do today once people realize climate change is the same level threat. 2/2

What we need is a PRESIDENT and a Congress that has the Courage to make this happen!

I like you Marianne, but ideas like this remind me why I could never vote for you. What should we call this plan? A Five Year Plan? A Great Leap Forward? Centralized planning of the economy has .. in the past.. caused great human misery. Down a green rabbit hole?

Likely we’ll have devastation in parts of the world, some places may even become inhabitable, etc. but for the most part we’ll be fine. Bonus, large chunks of earth that’s not usable today will grow palm trees… we’re at the tale end of an ice age. It’ll get warmer w/ or w/o us.

Hitler was elected President in 1933. Several months later…he firebombed the ‘Capitol’ with his ‘FBI’ and BLAMED his Political Enemies. ‘Dictatorial Powers’ were passed due to this. Does this sound familiar?

I follow your opinions and respect most. But, this is daft. Will it happen in due time with the natural development of tech? Maybe. Government conversion of corsets to grenade belts isn’t anywhere near the complexity required to race to FFF. It’s stupid and dangerous.

We also had full employment during those years. No reason why anybody has to be without a productive, well-paying job.

Shutting off fossil fuels before we have a sustainable renewable energy source is like shutting your water off at your house before you dig a well! Use some common sense, we all want to see the Earth but we don't want to ruin our country while trying to.
