If they were going to violate the rules, they at least could have used the money to build schools.

I wrote about Alabama's plan to use $400 million in Covid relief funds to construct three new prisons, which should violate Treasury guidelines on how Covid funds may be spent. But the Treasury also said it won't necessarily enforce those guidelines. neverleave.substack.com/p/al…

But prisons are a huge profit centre on account of their slave labour pool. There is no shareholder value to be augmented by educating children. This is how America works.

@GOP wonders why people are still struggling. "We gave you all of this money for Covid relief" As Mitch puts it, we're all "flush" with money. Looks like a LOT of money for Covid relief went to a lot of "other" things, not Covid. No wonder people are still struggling.
