I wonder how many journalists have already held back from reporting things they know in their heart a Free Press should be reporting, thinking “After what they’ve done to Julian Assange maybe I better not.” Authoritarianism doesn’t just land on people, it creeps toward us slowly

A press on a pay roll will report just zero ,minorities wrote history ,they still do and will continue to do so
Interesting tweet. Change one line at the end and it perfectly applies to Edward Snowden: I wonder how many journalists have held back from reporting things they know a Free Press should be reporting, thinking "After what Putin might do to me if I speak the truth, I better not.”

Well Julian Assange and Edward Snowden...
Wonder if this kind of chilling effect could also be felt in other institutions as well. Like a momma bear with all the $ calling the shots behind the scenes... nah. Probably not #VBNMW

I feel the same about everything in this aspect, you have to think, the people not speaking out are the ones that share your values, and they don’t speak out for obvious reasons. We know what they do when people express different views that people don’t like.
