An unregulated market has done more to create inflation than has anything else. It leaves us in a situation where we have have no capacity to absorb an emergency, with all sacrifice left to the average person to just deal with.

Lack of regulation left the megacorporations intact so laissez-faire never got a chance. Some trust-busting was required (well actually a LOT of trust-busting).

Inflation is when the money supply is too great and credit is too cheap. The federal agency that centrally, as in artificially, controls both of these is called the Federal Reserve Bank. This in effect 'regulates' every market in the US economy at its root. Blame the Fed.
