We have to process it, we can’t gloss over the depths of our American decline. But when you do allow yourself to take it in, and grieve, and burn through the painful part, you come out the other side with more motivation and more adrenaline and more commitment to fixing it all.

I suppose. But we have to stop reflexively looking to the government to fix problems. That is not and never has been the solution. What is has been is a surefire way to create even more problems

Govt is not the "solution" but it should absolutely serve us. Those are our own tax $ after all. It was Reagan's triumph to demonize govt in order to be able to turn all resources over to the private sector. Now we reflexively look to *it* to solve problems, which is even worse.

How about we just keep our tax dollars? Pretty sure I can spend my money better than politicians can.
Govt should serve us, but in a limited capacity, doing the things that we cannot do alone (e.g. protecting rights). Otherwise, the market is far more effective. The problems with it are largely driven by big corp's marriage to govt (cronyism). Govt is at the root of the issue
