I am going to re-post this video every time I hear about a mass shooting. If you're tired of seeing this video, I hope you understand that I am much more tired of hearing about mass shootings.
You don't have to register your car or have a driver's license if you are only going to drive the car on private property. Furthermore, it is none of the government's (or anyone else's) business if I have any guns or not.
Disband and criminalize the FBI, CIA and other US intelligence agencies; and launch a massive RICO investigation metropolitan Police Departments across the country, and we will find that this sort of mass-shooting will simply disappear.
Historically registration has always led to confiscation, with Australia being the most recent example. I may not know how tanks work but I do know how being herded into a boxcar works and an AR-15 definitely helps prevent that.

Yeah the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986 prohibits government from keeping a registry.
Not that I'd comply even if they had a registry.
It's nobody's business what I own.
