Why are police treating protesters and journalists like criminals? Are we just supposed to accept now that institutions set up to protect people will be regularly abusing them?

Protest all you want, but when you start burning down communities you deserve to get punched in the mouth. Many of the people that live here support your cause and you are hurting them.

Because Republican and Democratic Administrations have been arming police with military weapons for DECADES as if they were to be an occupying military force. Then there's who police forces recruit: Cowards, mostly. Unarmed protesters are the only people they'll stand up to.
