Talked with a German cousin last night about how every citizen there gets full healthcare and free education through college or tech school. It’s just their normal. She said “ I don’t understand why people in America say ‘socialism’ like it’s an insult.”

Ridiculous. Is it “lacking in economic seriousness” for kids to go to high school? Or to a park? Or to a library? Or to drive on the roads?

None of those things should have been funded by the federal government. They should be managed and funded by the states. Things are better managed at the most local level possible and why have redundant bureaucracies at the federal and state levels? It's inefficient.
