Talked with a German cousin last night about how every citizen there gets full healthcare and free education through college or tech school. It’s just their normal. She said “ I don’t understand why people in America say ‘socialism’ like it’s an insult.”

I do. We have had 80 years of Corporate Propaganda affording the redefining of the word Socialism and distorting our view of what it really is. The bad Socialism is Wall Street. Stocks in a company one doesn't labor for should be made illegal, totally outlawed.

America should always strive to be the land of opportunity for it's citizens, but that should never translate to mean a country of entitlement for those the to not wish to put forth their best effort to be contributing members of society.

German system is not national healthcare the way Canada or UK are. Public-private partnership and decentralized. It is the patchwork but full coverage the ACA aspired to be. Not sure if it would work in US.
Because americans are brainwashed by money loving greedy capitalists and too stupid the question what is so wrong with socialism.
Germany has 83 million people and the US has 330 million and not everyone works here . I worked for the govt . U don’t want govt health care . Ask the veterans

Because the powers that be have worked hard to stigmatize socialism. The top 1% runs this country and has no plans of giving up power.
