Talked with a German cousin last night about how every citizen there gets full healthcare and free education through college or tech school. It’s just their normal. She said “ I don’t understand why people in America say ‘socialism’ like it’s an insult.”

the use of “free” denotes a lack of economic seriousness

Ridiculous. Is it “lacking in economic seriousness” for kids to go to high school? Or to a park? Or to a library? Or to drive on the roads?

Germany is not a Socialist country; it's a federal parliamentary democracy. Socialism is completely different - it requires class struggle, reintroduces classism, establishes an elite ruling class - proletariat, takes away all rights.

Because thats the narrative we’ve been fed for over 40 years. It started with a love of capitalism in the 80s which gave us egos (compared to other countries). Once ppl started to realize that there may be a better way, they slowly changed the narrative to a hate of socialism.
