Today I would say $1T. It was an important moment for me because the debate was in Detroit. I knew what Detroiters had shown me when I lived there, and I knew I would never forgive myself if I didn’t make the argument for reparations on the stage that night.

It's like a lot of you don't realize the positive impact foundational black Americans would have on the economy if we got reparations. We already account for most of the spending anyway in America so what do you would happen if we got it. I guess yall are afraid of us excelling

It was a great answer at the time. I think most who heard that thought $500 billion was outrageous, either too much or way too little. “Politically feasible” is one thing but realistically it is above $2 trillion. I would start with something like $4 trillion over 20 years.

Yes, Marianne! Well said and the money, in USD, will come from the United States Treasury. The United States Treasury is the only source of US Dollars and can therefore pay all of its debts, including Reparations, as long as they are in US Dollars.
