Today I would say $1T. It was an important moment for me because the debate was in Detroit. I knew what Detroiters had shown me when I lived there, and I knew I would never forgive myself if I didn’t make the argument for reparations on the stage that night.

Marianne, printing $1T into the economy would cause inflation to skyrocket even further, which would harm the people you want to help. Please think this stuff through.

First of all it’s not just dumping $1T into the economy; it’s money to be disbursed over 20 years. Closing the economic gap between blacks and whites would expand the economy by $1.5T

Dozens of generations born to slavery. Lives of back-breaking toil building an American prosperity from which their descendants were excluded by Jim Crow & segregation. Voteless, homeless, landless, impoverished. Persecuted by racist laws of a carceral state. $1T? Are you joking?

How is it determined who receives reparations?

While others sidestepped Reparations as an inconvenient topic-Marianne Williamson made it a pillar of her campaign.

Agreed injustice is still happening through policies that you support. This is not just about the past this is about now. It is imperative that we abolish the systems in place which cultivates oppression.

I have a simple thought on Reparations. Maybe because I have a simple mind. But it seems like patching holes in an old leaky boat. If we put as much effort into actually repairing systemic racism as we do apologizing for it, maybe we can actually accomplish something.

Guess it's easy to pull out the checkbook. Let me know what will make this better. Who should I make this out to? Writing this check will make me feel better. We can pretend none of it happened. Right? Doesn't fix anything. What drunk drivers do when they crash into someone.
