I don’t know what we have to do to protect trans people from the Proud Boys/brown shirts who are after them these days, but whatever it is we need to do it. They’re picking on who they perceive to be the most vulnerable people now & if we don’t stop it they will just keep going.

NEW: San Francisco drag queen Panda Dulce says their Drag Queen Story Hour for kids at San Lorenzo Library today was stormed by people shouting homophobic slurs and hate speech. They allegedly shouted "tranny" and "pedophile." I called @ACSOSheriffs who confirmed the incident:

If you can’t understand why a parent wouldn’t want a stripper to be in their full getup interacting with their young children at their school, then you can’t be helped. Children do not need to know anything about an adults sexuality. Period. Be proud and dress up around adults.

I don't know about the Proud Boys and them specifically. But here's some advice on defeating the rhetoric. Just telling them to stop, and that it's wrong, don't work. We need them to decide they'd rather do something else.

They’re gonna have to fight back. And not by crying to the police. Think Stonewall, for reference. Those drag queens should organize into a larger group and storm their effing churches. Teach them a lesson or two about story time.

Violence like this never okay, esp for marginalized groups, but I can’t keep question why there’s a drag queen story hours for KIDS? can’t we just accept some things are for adults and not appropriate for kids.
