When covid happened the " democratic state" shut down small businesses and allowed the giant corporations to prosper even more. So the " democratic state" are the ones that sold out the American people. ( All world governments for that matter) So why should the people trust them?

And Theodore Roosevelt knew the trajectory the Republican Party was on over a century ago and made the original Progressive Party in the direction he thought Republicans should go. It’s so easy to slip into complacency, and so hard to get things back on track.
There’s no democracy left to safeguard any more, and not a single politician or top brass could say no to a big wad of donations. Watch the snake swallow itself, there’s nothing can be done to save it.

FDR also knew if he didn’t regulate private power, capitalism would effectively end by eating itself. If FDR hadn’t existed, capitalism of today would likely not exist.
