Some would argue nothing stunts public discourse more than talking to people/ respecting people acting in bad faith, pretending they're well meaning, legitimizing the illegitimate in society by acting like evil people might be reasonable or have a point but, agree to disagree

That doesn’t just stunt discourse, it stunts the country. But it’s all the more reason to connect with people with whom there is a basic alliance of values.
