No one NEEDS anything for home defence. We could all sit at home defenceless. But some of us choose the AR-15 for home defence because it's one of the most effective tools for the job.

That depends entirely on what I'm defending myself from. The instant someone says 'nobody' or 'everybody' they've usually invalidated their statement. Also, if you trust and follow your intuition you probably won't be in a situation that calls for violence.

I disagree. They're so good for self defense that 19 cops won't challenge a single random kid who has one.

If a person cannot "defend themselves" with more traditional, non-semiautomatic, rifles/shotguns...they probably should be around ANY guns at all.
