What kind of society have we created that so many people are more eager to protect the right to own a military style assault weapon than to do everything possible to protect the life of a child? America’s collective gun fetish IS a mental health issue.

In most countries I don’t think the access to weapons would create that. You have a cultural problem so talk about that too.

I respectfully disagree.. The cultural issue has more dimensions than yes or no to guns and 1st amendment. Why is America so violent and full of hate? Is that because people have guns?

Of course not. But it’s a multidimensional issue, an all systems breakdown that requires an all systems response. It’s not one thing any more than it’s every other. If there’s any one thing that does connect them all it’s the multitude of ways we put money before people.

A lot of talk and no results. A broken society we have. It is becoming apparent we will have unprecedented national upheaval as opposed to a measured political solution to our difficulties.
