What kind of society have we created that so many people are more eager to protect the right to own a military style assault weapon than to do everything possible to protect the life of a child? America’s collective gun fetish IS a mental health issue.

Why are weapons of war on the loose in our society in the first place?

Why do you act surprised? Half of all veterans own one or more firearms; their children will grow up in the same gun culture their parents grew up in. Holywood uses movies like #topgun2 to brainwash and confuse kids by mixing bravery and comradery with imperialism.
Malcolm X said the chickens come home to roost. MLK said that the bombs dropped abroad explode at home. They were right. Mass shootings are an outgrowth of a militarized and alienated society where violence is a feature of policy at every level.

A vast majority of gun owners want greater restrictions. The $28 billion firearms industry in the US is who local, state, and federal politicians are beholden to — not the gun nut outliers.

@marwilliamson the real problem is: Many Americans don’t understand that the 2nd amendment does not apply to their so-called “Right to bear arms” when they can’t fight a government with far more superior weapons! The argument is null! Are we an intellectually deprived nation?
