You have the causality backwards. Democrats should pander to the donor class, who will launch a massive set of attack ads on their behalf aimed at Republicans. And it will backfire just like it does every other midterm with a D POTUS.

This would be true if they were actually campaigning on policy and improving the lives of citizens, rather than just campaigning on shame for helping the other "team" win. We have to #EndTheDuopoly yesterday and build a system where elected officials are actual public servants.
