On a national average, we have one mental health counselor for every 1,500 children. We have elementary schools with children on suicide watch! We have trauma rooms in schools all over the country. That is where our resources should be going.

Mental health services in Texas. “Texas ranks 50th of 51 in overall access to mental health care, according to 2021 State of Mental Health in America report. Currently, only 1 in 7 Texas children with major depression receive consistent treatment — almost half national average.”

Their parents need to be respected in their communities and they need to make a decent living wage. And we need to include misogyny in the hate crime bills.

Instead, they will give it to police here, to nazis in ukraine, to continue apartheid in Palestine, to the bombing and genocide in Yemen, etc. Our system is built to prioritize profits, not people and especially not children, the average age of a homless person is 11.

This is the #1 solution politicians openly admit is needed, yet continue to block at every chance: Universal (mental) Health Care. Access to free mental health early in life will greatly reduce suffering. The establishment politicians have no excuse to delay #M4A any further.

Millions of people struggle with depression and mental illness and would never fathom doing something like this. Every country in the world has mental illness but their schools aren't getting shot up. Stop stigmatizing mental illness. It's not a prerequisite for this
