Governor Greg Abbott of Texas was asked whether an 18 year old should be able to buy an assault weapon. He said that that has been the case for 60 years and he doesn’t see what’s happened that things should be any different now.

The Supreme Court is probably going to rule soon that requiring a person to be 21 years old to buy a handgun is illegal. Something does need to be done to stop someone from being able to leave a mental health facility at 18 years old and then buying a gun the next day.
