He didn’t say that- and both you and the headline of the article are implying that he did.

Babies don't have enough to eat. Pete Buttigieg: Not our problem. Capitalism has to eat first.

You got to be kidding me…no we need more government involvement. Perhaps if Abbott had spent as much money on fixing their machines as they did on stock buybacks we wouldn’t have a problem.

It's not a quote, Marianne. And it's from Jacobin. 🤷

“If babies are starving and private industry doesn’t want to produce baby formula, for any reason, the babies must regrettably die. The govt should not produce baby formula no matter how many of these so-called babies die. I said it was regrettable, leave me alone.”

“Let’s be very clear,” he said. “This is a capitalist country. The government does not make baby formula, nor should it. Companies make formula.” For those who keep saying "this is out of context"... it's literally near the beginning of the article where he says this.

Marianne, I’m going to go watch the interview. But intil then, I’m giving Pete Buttigieg the respect to assume he didn’t mean what you assume he meant. What you’re doing is what we DEMs always do. We just can’t seem to say yes to the win.
