I think we should not want to live in a society where one man can just decide to rule by decree…even if you want all of those things he deems are now law, eventually someone will come along who will enact things that you find terrible and repressive…

I agree with you on that. The difference in our viewpoint has to do with what we consider an emergency. Of course people said FDR was a dictator but he did what he had to do to bring us out of the Depression. 1/2

He didn’t use dpa to cancel stuff. He had a pliable democratic congress with 65 % majorities that would pass bills as long as it would benefit whites and discriminated benefits against Black folks.

I think we share several concerns-I see the problem as being how terribly we’ve been governed for so long, by R+D…if they did their jobs properly, debated and actually legislated instead of cowardly leaving things to courts and allowing endless CR, things wouldn’t be so terrible
