If the US hadn't intervened so often in Latin America over the years, suppressing even democratically elected governments when they didn't serve US corporate interests, many of their economies would never have become so destabilized to begin with.

Demonizing immigrant populations whose desperation stems in large part from our own malfeasance is a national character defect, the result of an imperialistic arrogance now coming up for us to review, dissolve and heal. The world will become a better place when we do.
