Rome had to fall before a new world could be built. Though I see no reason why it has to take as long for a new world to coalesce this time around.

Incidentally Parenti wrote a really good book on the subject called "The Assassination of Julius Caesar: A People's History of Ancient Rome". Highly recommend. Impossible not to spot parallels and say "uh oh!".

Of course the birth of a new world. These events are only the dying throes of a social and economic culture trying to prevent change. Ignoring that Technology have made it obsolete and only possible to be maintain thru constant violence now and forever.
