I've noticed in my life that when I've felt hopeless and like I couldn't go on, the people who've said "Oh get over yourself and toughen up!" have actually done more for me than those who however well intentioned probably let me stay on the phone too long describing my despair.

That work for you because at ❤ you *are* tough. Flighty sometimes, but steel in the gut. I relate to that part of you the most. Sometimes that's good for me. Sometimes I feel the need to resist it with the steel in my own spine. Still. I recognize and respect your strength.

Marianne, I strongly agree. Often, people attempt to show love by letting you wallow in self-pity are well-intended, but keep you in a negative space longer. I strongly recommend you check out this podcast about complaining. It was kind of life changing. unfuckyourbrain.com/complain…

Love you, Marianne. As a philosophy teacher, I am aware that you are here channeling your inner Marcus Aurelius, the great Stoic. Showing strength when facing adversity is the only way we can find out who we really are at our best.

People in general, but especially in America think they’ve had a tough ride over the past couple decades. If anyone thinks here in 🇺🇸 is bad today, you are up for a great surprise coming this fall-winter.

Hey Marianne, get over yourself

How I like to help others is to listen and/but I want to hear ideas for how to make things better and recover. Just "toughen up" won't cut it. From me, or to me, either one. I need solutions. I need a plan. And encouragement to make it happen.

No matter how far we detour into fear, there’s always a spiritual solution that can bring us back to peace.👍🙏

Gloom = Laziness…and that is hard to hear for me or anyone. Give yourself 5 minutes of dispair, take a walk/deep breaths/say a prayer and get back to work
