Amen to this! The odd marriage between corporate hubris and the plaints of uneducated, lower middle class people is a phenomenon that goes back even further to the 1890s, with Carnegie Libraries (as useful as they have become to society) as an example of the sop given from above

This is true for all the West. Even people supposedly against the system use cost-benefit analysis (protect environment, include women just because it fosters growth), ask for rights just as interests of people without rights. Rousseau, Hannah Arendt: confined in books.
