The idea that I suffered therefore you should suffer too, when the truth of the matter is that neither of you should have ever had to suffer since financial institutions were just making billions of dollars off your suffering, is a feeling I don’t understand. #CancelStudentDebt

Okay, what then? Does the federal government quit backing student loans? Is college free now?

The only reason that people who invested in higher ed in order to improve their professional prospects can't declare insolvency and write off those loans - as millions of businesses have done - is that Sen. BIDEN PUSHED LAWS TO PREVENT IT.

Why not just get the universities to give the money back. They have more money than I do, and at least they were involved in the transaction. Unless you're beholden to them of course, then...

Some paid, others didn’t go, why is it difficult to understand their reluctance to pay for this? This violates basic fairness.

What about the 529 plan that my wife and I spent 2 decades paying in to? We went without a lot to make sure our kids had the choice to attend college, something that was not an option for either of us. Proud I did it. But pissed AF you are trying to make the rich richer.

Writing off federal student debt costs...nothing. It would free up resources and boost the economy. It would mirror past writing off of banking, financial, manufacturing, farming, war debt. It would be in line with insolvent businesses zeroing loans and starting over debt-free.
