The idea that I suffered therefore you should suffer too, when the truth of the matter is that neither of you should have ever had to suffer since financial institutions were just making billions of dollars off your suffering, is a feeling I don’t understand. #CancelStudentDebt

Because people who went to second and third tier toilets but paid off their loans are going to lose jobs to people who went to first and second tier schools for free. How about a CHOICE: If you cancel your debt, you go to jail for claiming you have a college degree.

You might imagine what it would feel like if you had to forego a home purchase because you were diligently paying off student loans while your peer didn't pay theirs and now you both are to $0 balance. Does that help? I agree that the loans are predatory but a better solution?!

It’s not like it would be impossible to give refunds to the people who were responsible and paid their loans back/paid in full. If you think that was suffering then you should want them compensated as well. That would be the fair way.

For all those who have paid off their student debt: Give them back their money. I don’t care. My wife got student loan. Got a good job. We got a house. Now, we are retired and can’t afford to keep this house. The student loan payments just keep going up. Make it go away!

And they started making billions when the government started guaranteeing the loans (because everybody thought, "Oh! FREE MONEY!")

There's a song by Morrissey called: "We hate it when our friends become successfull". Might explain some of the same human behaviour you struggle to comprehend. "If I can't/couldn't have it, nobody should have it" 😑

Unless you fix the system that created this issue it is just buying votes. We will be right back here in 10 years asking for $ again. Buying votes

Mmmmm ... debt is not crippling if it allows one to generate income to service the debt & create profit Which is the point of loans: they are investments that return positive cash flow or they are mortgages If A's college degree can't service the loan, A needs to learn to code
