The idea that I suffered therefore you should suffer too, when the truth of the matter is that neither of you should have ever had to suffer since financial institutions were just making billions of dollars off your suffering, is a feeling I don’t understand. #CancelStudentDebt

I like your thinking.
If we only ever followed the philosophies of nay-sayers, we'd still be hunter-gatherers who die before 30.

In Russia, during the Yeltsin years, it was even worse, when Russians would actually say, "Better my cow should die, than my neighbor should have two." We're already there in the US; just look at our policies and electorate.

I’ll never get this eternal cruel vicious cycle that people wants to keep rolling. If I had spent years paying student debt, I’d be thrilled if others didn’t need to go through that hell, and could instead use that money and focus in other aspects of their lives. Break free.

Unfair to increase the tax liability for those families who have paid their loans off and/or will be taking loans in the future. Other mechanisms through the tax code to enhance the affordability of outstanding student loan debt.

It's a matter of having absorbed the conservative dogma that prosperity = morality. If I suffered to reach a goal, I'm a good person. If someone else is excused from that same struggle yet reaches the goal, it triggers cognitive dissonance by contradicting my belief in morality.

Exactly, I remember when my ancestors said, "We're not fighting to end slavery for future generations because if we went through it, they should too.", oh wait, they didn't say that. They, like all great people planted trees they would never get to see grow #CancelStudentDebt

So it’s now ‘suffering’ to willingly incur a debt from which only you will benefit from? It’s everyone’s responsibility to pay for for your education, even if they don’t have that education themselves?

Why don’t we require people who have a college education to pay for other people’s college education. Why put it on the backs of the poor?

Making billions and they can't even give out a couple jobs... pathetic
