What will it take to change the world at this point? We have all the data. We have the moral argument. We have the numbers of people who get it. The question we all need to ask ourselves now is, do I have the courage? How enough of us answer that will make the difference.

To change things we don't need a majority; we need a critical mass. On issues the most progressive legislation is supported by a majority of the American people btw. The will of the people is ok; the problem is a political system that ignores & suppresses the will of the people.

I genuinely don't understand, are you saying here that the critical mass must exceed simple majority, when it comes to simply supporting any particular policy position?

No not at all. The majority didn't wake up one day and say "let's end slavery," "let's give women suffrage," or "let's desegregate the South." But a *critical mass* did - supposedly around 11% of a system- and that was enough to start the change in social consciousness.

Okay yes I was hoping your position that a critical mass would be less than a simple majority. But this raises the question of why we don't then have things like M4A or a GND. The critical mass for those things should theoretically already exist, and yet they don't happen, no?

The Democratic Party suppresses its progressive wing, and the Republican Party suppress votes period.
