The call to #CancelStudentDebt is getting louder and louder. Other advanced nations make higher education either free or very inexpensive. So should we.
“Canceling college loan debt is a way to clean the slate. If anything, we should pay ppl to get an education.” @marwilliamson at DC Rally to #CancelStudentDebt on how when she was growing up, parents could afford to send their kids to college.

Another take...
I am not responsible for your student debt. I grew up in poverty in NC. Ate from a garden, name was on community Angel tree for Christmas, bought clothes from yard sales & if I was lucky, on a rare occasion Sky City. I joined the Air Force then went to college. I made it happen.

We need to get college cheaper. Fixing the debt one time just means we’ll be right back to where we are now in 4 years.

Such a dumb take. Tell me you don't know anything about contract law without telling me...

Maybe the Federal government should put price controls on tuition, instead.

Beautifully said! Thank you for your support, Marianne!

opposed to paying ALL student debt but there may be caveats that work based on income. placing a cap on federally funded student loans would force colleges to control their costs. currently no incentive to do so paying people for a free education though is ridiculous.

I really want to understand this. You propose to absolve the people who benefitted from the money they borrowed and contracted to repay, and transfer that liability to folks who didn’t borrow or benefit?
