The War on Drugs began as a political hoax created by Richard Nixon as an act of political theatre. It has caused more suffering and death than the drugs themselves could have ever caused. Shame on every president since who didn’t have the nerve to say so.

You should really talk about the very overt, naked racism behind the campaign, and how this bleeds into alot of the racial injustice we still see today.

>> an act of political theatre No, it was a plan for social control. The criminalization of drug use combined with the enactment of qualified immunity replaced Jim Crow laws. Much as the 13th amend. replaced chattel slavery with a prison slavery system.
“You want to know what this was really all about?” ...We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_E…

Thank you for mentioning ❤️ Can you please help spread awareness about harm reduction? Very important after shaming and criminalizing users for decades….
The war of all against all for resources begins at birth and ends at death.

It started in the 1930s with "Reefer Madness" William Randolph Hearst supported the criminalization of marijuana, in part because Hearst's paper-producing companies were being replaced by hemp. Likewise, DuPont's investment in nylon was threatened by hemp products.

You’re missing the reasoning behind this. Shaming presidents fundamentally misunderstands the role of the president as the leader of the national and international bourgeoisie. To think any of these people would feel the slightest amount of shame…

One more horrific thing for which our leaders should be prosecuted and imprisoned.

It was an assault on the Black community @marwilliamson. It was a racist based campaign to create what is now the industrial prison complex.
