The War on Drugs began as a political hoax created by Richard Nixon as an act of political theatre. It has caused more suffering and death than the drugs themselves could have ever caused. Shame on every president since who didn’t have the nerve to say so.

It’s never been a war on drugs, since you can’t attack or imprison the drugs. It’s always been a war to stigmatize and imprison the poor to fill up prisons and throw communities and individuals into chaos who might vote for Democrats. That’s it basically.
