The revitalization of the labor movement isn’t going to destroy capitalism; it’s the only thing that can save it.

To me the most enlightened economies are hybrids of socialism and capitalism, as in certain Scandinavian countries.

🤢 By still being beholden to capital interests, you get such Scandinavian policies as seizing jewelry from (non-white) refugees. Yes, they have better lives than America--but they could have Eden with socialism.

Marianne, those countries have a “hybrid” because of centuries of imperialism and exploitation. Real socialism will only come about when all workers-including the ones far away-have the same rights. There can be no “hybrid” of capitalism and socialism without exploiting workers!

That system is a stepping stone on the path, not the destination.

That is not socialism. Socialism is when the public owns the means of production. You're talking about capitalism with robust welfare. Capitalism is the cause of our climate crisis, and as such, is not a viable option if we wish for humanity to survive.

I agree. I spent ten weeks in Denmark. They have nothing to worry about and still their work ethic is strong.
