The revitalization of the labor movement isn’t going to destroy capitalism; it’s the only thing that can save it.

To me the most enlightened economies are hybrids of socialism and capitalism, as in certain Scandinavian countries.

Which ones, do you actually know how many there are and the difference between them? They're all capitalist btw just not by the insane standards of the USA where using taxes to fix a broken road is communism

The social devolution and continuing demolition from austerity of what was the best compromise between capitalism and socialism that I know of, is proof positive to me that the endless greed of the capitalists cannot be contained for very long at the expense of the working class.

The Soviet economic system is better than any hybrid system. Allowing anybody to own commercial property causes poverty, technological stagnation and a lower standard of living for everybody living in that nation.

Social democracies can only support their populist policies by exporting misery to third world nations. It's called unequal exchange. As long as capitalism exists so will human suffering.

Nothing enlightened about exploitation. Those countries function well as self-contained societies however the reality is, under the veneer, they still exist off the back of third world exploitation and poverty. Capitalism CANNOT function without pillaging poorer nations resources

You mean, shifting more of the burden of capitalism to the already super exploited countries. They use imperialism and unequal exchange to fund their social safety programs, and those programs are utilized in a discriminatory way. We can end capitalism and end exploitation.

Marianne, I love you dearly and you give me hope but you are utterly wrong here babe. A hybrid of capitalism with anything is capitalism. That's the primary driver to inequality and wars around the world.

Wasn't sure where your were going. But Yes. The only way capitalism will be saved in some form, is for workers to have more power and be able to share in the profits they produce.
