As long as arms sales, oil and every other kind of hegemonic intention dictates American foreign policy - if we continue to throw our own purported values overboard in favor of the worst kind of crass and criminal pursuits - then America will continue on a road to our own demise.

You're forgetting that the only reason America ever enacts treaties with other countries is to persuade them to disarm in advance of an invasion. Other countries have certainly noticed that the US routinely ignores any and all treaty obligations.
