Good question! You’re too young to have seen the filth of the Hudson and other major US rivers, which have now become cleaner and usable. It took vigilance by the people then, and it will take more of that now. When the profit margin is the only concern, nature always loses. ESG+

I opine that it's really beyond our current way to be able to tackle the issue of environmental degradation. We'll drive the planet into the ground first. This is just my feeling though, not based on anything concrete.
