I'm reading a biography of FDR at the same time that I'm watching the Gilded Age on Netflix. Fascinating how FDR - and America - transitioned from the first Gilded Age into a progressive era. And we can do it again. History is just repeating itself.

"History is just repeating itself" = war and sanctions and massive number of refugees. Yeah, that's really progressive.

You say "history IS repeating itself" In what way do you perceive this country becoming more Progressive right now? Seems to me the undemocratic power of selfish billionaire oligarchs is getting more ubiquitous and deeply entrenched. What do you mean?

We don't have time for liberal reforms in the age of climate change.

We're fighting against the new gilded age of America right now, albeit without a strong leader to confront such. This is not an affront to those who are battling, such as yourself, Sen. Sanders, Nina Turner, et.al.

Back then we had strong labor unions, socialist party, and communist party. FDR had heavy pressure from the left which moved him. We have none to very little of any of this today. This is the reason nothing transformative is being done.
