The left is very divided on the issue of Ukraine, depending on whether you’re viewing it mainly through the filter of Iraq and Afghanistan or through the filter of World War II. Both are legitimate and either alone tells only half the story.

The ultimate goal is debatable But, under all scenarios, this comes down to another proxy war on the Russian border How does the armament of Ukraine, pre-Russian invasion, square with our Monroe Doctrine?
Hillary Clinton is pushing for an endless war on model of Afghanistan at expense of Ukrainian people in order to overthrow Putin. And somehow it's evil to prefer a peace settlement democracynow.org/2022/3/24/a…

Yes; "filter of WW2", because remember neolibs have told us that Putin is worse than Hitler? Do you ever tire of posting such drivel?

Comparing situation in Ukraine to Afghanistan is devoid of historical facts.

I think the US should be grateful that they get to use Ukraine to reflect on their ideas of peace, war and democracy before running headlong into Civil War II, a topic of discussion that seems to have receded a bit perhaps in the sight of actual war they can't look away from?

Excuse me, but Americans are divided on this issue. I'm in favor of self-determination, and I would hope that, if we someday find ourselves in a similar situation to that of the Ukrainian people, other countries would offer their support.

I think, the real division is largely between how much corporate media we consume. If you haven't been brainwashed by corporate media, it seems fundamentally insane to risk escalation toward nuclear Armageddon over Russia's immoral invasion of Ukraine.

Try viewing it through this lens. 👇
Egging on Ukraine to fight Russia is like egging on the Park County Pee-Wee Hockey Team to play the Detroit Red Wings.

How about viewing it as a symptomatic eruption of a system of trade market dominance that makes war inevitable? This has all been building for decades, its the unconscious becoming conscious, and if we only look at what's on the surface, we miss the forest for the trees.
