Martin Luther King Jr. said “If they give it to the poor they call it a handout, but if they give it to the rich they call it a subsidy.” Why should we subsidize multi B$ Oil & Pharma companies but not kids just trying to get an education?

What I know is that there is a $1.6T college loan debt holding 45 million people in economic shackles that serve no one but their lending institutions. It should stop right now; we should let those people go live their lives without that burden.

It serves the higher education systems much more than the lenders - that’s where the real money is going. Costs for college have skyrocketed since these subsidies were introduced. Fix that. Every one of those 45 million made a choice to seek those loans.
