Replying to @colinwick_
Gandhi said “the idea that economics is a verifiable science is one of the greatest evils ever foisted on the human mind.” Contemporary economics has become an amoral scourge, a tool of modern day serfdom.

I have read a series of books on economics. Every single sentence is about greed and getting richer at the expense of others.

Native Americans used to raid neighboring tribes for horses or food when their demand went up. Lakota would do this to Snakes often. No matter how you chop it up, economics has existed in any society of humans.

My economics texts had 1-2 trite (mostly untrue) paragraphs each for Marx and Smith, gave at least 1-2 pages for almost everyone else. If you didn’t read outside of that, you’d have no idea what they believed.

"... has become an amoral scourge, a tool of modern day serfdom." It always was. An economy needs a worthy moral system guiding the actions of a critical mass of the actors within it in order to thrive. We've known this for a while.
We don’t get everything right.
What is the source for the quote. It looks spurious. Searches on google and bing turn up no verifiable source for it at all, let alone have it being said by Gandhi.
