1/ If the current situation in Ukraine shows anything, it’s the complete bankruptcy of our nuclear arms strategy. We’re now scheduled to spend $634B nuclear bombs over the next 10 years, and we already have approximately 7000 nuclear warheads already.

2/ We’ve been told for years that the legitimacy of the arms race lies in the principle of Mutually Assured Destruction, the idea that no one would drop a nuke if they were aware that someone else could do it too.

3/ How is our having so many nuclear warheads helping us now? Dropping 50, max, would be enough to pretty much destroy the world. The trillions of $ we have already spent on nuclear bombs has almost nothing to do with our security. When this Ukrainian horror is over, #BanTheBomb.

It has nothing to do with an arms race. It has everything to do with corruption. Military requires funding/appropriations= money laundering for continued political corruption. Billions will be appropriated for that project. Less than 10% ever sees its intended cause

I reckon we have moved on from the "mutually assured destruction" to who "can survive a nuclear war better" position in which we are willing to assume millions will die but we will have more survivors than "them"... whomever "them" is.

Sure ... Ban the Bombs ... they seem to be useless!

It was the U.S. that has consistently failed to renew nuclear arms agreements with Russia, who sought to preserve them. The fact that we couldn't negotiate over missile systems on Russia's borders has more than a little to do with what's going on now. Push to ban the bomb now.

And the horror of Palestine, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Iraq, Yemen, social community leaders in Colombia, Chile, Honduras etc. The American Imperial horror will not end at anytime soon.

It's making things worse. We can't spank Russia or usa for committing war crimes without worrying about one of us starting nuclear war.

Not a well thought out argument
