The sheer folly of this proposal, as with many others, such as single payer medical insurance is that it is absurd to compare the USA with other smaller countries. We are #3 in land mass, and #3 in population in the world. These things cannot scale up!! It’s total folly!

The idea that you can scale anything up is one of the biggest mistakes most progressives make. No, we can’t and we will never be able to. Even the current Medicare bureaucracy is vulnerable to massive fraud. It pays hospitals less, so they shift charges onto folks under 65.
The real problem is that our entire system is based on the “fee for service” model, where the medical industry is paid for what it does, regardless of patient outcomes. This is a colossal conflict of interest - changing how we fund it will not fix this and waste trillions.
