Deregulation of oil in the late 1970's produced a windfall profits tax which was to go to the exploration of alternate energy sources. It did not have the desired outcome!

Lets stop making enemies of our petroleum & natural gas companies. Personal transport & free mobility is a modern miracle. They have the capital, engineers & chemists to make the slow transitions & are investing in biofuels (renewables). Cutting them out will destroy our economy.
