Absofuckinlutely. Every policy the world has followed regarding nuclear power has relied on a distinctly fragile premise: that no insane person would get near it. Time to get over that now.
Today would be a very good day to stop the construction of new nuclear power plants and move to decommission nuclear power plants throughout the world.

But that’s the problem. It’s like saying planes are safe. Of course they are; the vast majority of crashes are human error. But when you’re talking about a nuclear reactor, the risk is too high. Human error - or insanity - is not an option.

Seems like the bigger risk is with fossil fuels and global warming. Nuclear is clean and energy independent

Climate change is the bigger threat than a regional issue from a nuclear reactor. You need to talk to a scientist about the trade offs. Nuclear might not be ideal, but renewable energy isn’t reliable enough to go 100%. Need a backup for when it’s cloudy or no wind.

As someone that works in solar and renewables, I def admit there is no way we can get completely off of fossil fuels if we don’t build more nuclear plants. Soooo you either risk making the climate chain solution worse or you build nuclear plants which are very very low risk

No one could have imagined planes being used as weapons. No one could have imagined spent nuclear waste being used as weapons. I don't even want consider the possibilities.

They've spent decades designing them to withstand a jet impact in case of a terrorist attack. There's plenty of information on this out there and there was a lot of misinformation going around last night.

Planes are safe. They are far safer than cars which are their main competitor. (Although of course their pollution is awful). Similarly, nuclear power produces less environmental contamination than the alternatives.

That's for putting your complete lack of understanding of the actual risks in writing 👍

You want to stifle innovation because of the actions of a mad man? Don’t let him get this win too. Our planet needs clean energy
