Suggesting we do nothing to support a country that is being ruthlessly invaded doesn't make you "anti-war."

US started this war in 2014 when it backed a coup that overthrew the elected gov't, selected the new leaders, empowered fascists who burned people alive, & poured in $2.7 billion in weapons to shell the resisters. We should do something: stop treating Ukraine as cannon fodder.

So to you that means doing nothing now? You think that’s a moral high ground?

I hate to see you on the wrong side of this.

He's correct Marianne. What the US could do is no NATO in Ukraine and no more weapons from US or NATO. That's the answer. And share power like French Canadians in Canada. Keep your language and culture.

Your problem is that the only action you can imagine is violent involving sending weapons. What about diplomacy? What about an end to nato expansion?

I think Mate & I would argue is when has “doing something” (US intervention) ever benefitted said country we claim we’re helping? How can we left-wing Americans “do something” about this when we have no power? I guess I’m asking is what do you mean by America “doing something?”

The moral highground before this intervention started was to support implementing the Minsk agreement and to protect the Ukrainian Russian speakers against the coup government that was supported by the #USA

Just noticed what you did there: Completely ignored the message about US provocation of war and criticized the messenger. Thought you were better than that.

Please review your history of WWI. A local event combined with arrogance, casual-decision making, and most critically European alliances (think NATO), allowed the world to "sleep walk" into WWI. Let's not make the same mistake twice.

By “something”, what do you mean? We should have spent the last 8 years working to end the Donbass war. Instead, we armed it.

The US getting involved with other countries never ends up benefitting the country. It only destroys it worse. That's because the US never enters with a moral high ground to begin with. We just want their resources or to have the Military ind complex sell them some stuff. >>>
